Speaking at Stanford Graduate School of Business, Sam Altman warned that increasingly capable AI models could find vulnerabilities outside the normal threat models organizations use today. He said he no longer believes defenders can simply patch every bug.
His proposed direction is an AI-based defense shield using the same technology to keep up with AI-enabled attacks. The concern is real: software discovery is accelerating, and human patch cycles are not famous for their cardio.
The pitch is also immaculate Silicon Valley recursion. Build the machine that finds every hole, then sell the machine that stands in front of the holes. If the shield breaks, excellent news for the shield roadmap.
The fire department has discovered fire. Series B for water closes Friday.
